What is the purpose of a breathing valve and how should it be maintained
Jul 17, 2024| What is the purpose of a breathing valve and how should it be maintained?
The breathing valve is composed of a pressure valve and a vacuum valve, installed on the breathable pipe of the cargo oil tank. It can automatically open and close with the change of positive and negative pressure of the oil and gas in the cargo oil tank, keeping the pressure difference inside and outside the cargo oil tank within the allowable range. Breather valve is a safe and energy-saving product that maintains the pressure balance of storage tanks and reduces the volatilization of media. Breather valve fully utilizes the pressure bearing capacity of the storage tank itself to reduce media emissions. Its principle is to use the weight of the positive and negative pressure valve discs to control the exhaust positive pressure and suction negative pressure of the storage tank.
Maintenance and upkeep of the breathing valve: The maintenance and upkeep of the breathing valve should be done once a month, and twice a month in winter. Method: First, gently open the valve cover, remove the vacuum valve disc and pressure valve disc, check for oil and dirt at the sealing between the valve disc and the valve disc, as well as between the valve disc guide rod and the guide rod sleeve. If oil and dirt are found, they should be cleaned up and then installed back in place. Pull up and down a few times to check whether the opening is flexible and reliable. If everything is normal, then tighten the valve cover tightly. In maintenance and upkeep, if any abnormal phenomena such as scratches or wear are found on the valve disc, it should be replaced immediately or the supply company should be contacted for timely resolution.
