4 things you need to know before buying a sanitary valve
1. What is a sanitary valve?
2. What standards or regulations are required for sanitary valves?
3. What is the difference between sanitary valves and industrial valves?
4. The applications of sanitary valves and industrial valves are different.

1. What is a sanitary valve?
Sanitary valves are a different type from industrial valves, also known as sanitary valves or food-grade valves. It is made of clean and non-toxic stainless steel and is designed to control or regulate the movement of fluid or gas, especially suitable for food and beverage, dairy, brewing, pharmaceutical, daily chemical, and cosmetic industries. Sanitary valves must be easily cleaned in place (CIP) and circulate CIP fluids.

2. What standards or regulations are required for sanitary valves?
3-A health standards. The most common standard for valves and fittings in the United States is the 3-A Sanitary Standard. It specifies standards for the design and manufacture of equipment that comes into contact with food. 3-A Sanitary Standards are designed to protect public health through the use of sanitary equipment. For more information about the 3-A Standards, check out this article 3-A Sanitation Standards and A Primer on 3-A Acceptable Practices? Dongzheng sanitary valves and fittings adopt hygienic design and comply with 3-A standards.

FDA standards. The full name is the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA Wikipedia), which is another standard that applies to valve gaskets. Dongzheng valve seals (such as EPDM, PTFE, FPM, silicone, NBR, HNBR) all comply with FDA standards.

The ASME BPE standard covers how to design and manufacture bioprocessing equipment such as valves and pipe fittings used in the biopharmaceutical and personal care products industries. Dongzheng sanitary valves and fittings also meet the standards. For more details, please refer to ASME Wikipedia

3. What is the difference between sanitary valves and industrial valves?
Material. The sanitary valve body material must be sanitary standard stainless steel ASI 304 or 316L. However, industrial valve bodies are generally made of carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron or bronze, which are prone to corrosion or rust.

metal surface. Sanitary valves and pipe fittings have high requirements on the roughness of the metal surface, and all parts in contact with the medium must be finely polished. Surface roughness is calculated by measuring the average of surface height and depth across the entire surface. This measurement is most commonly shown as "Ra". SF1 RA20=0.51μm.

The ASME BPE surface finish table is as follows:

seal. The internal sealing of sanitary valves is critical and must comply with sanitary standards. Dongzheng sanitary valve seals comply with FDA standards.
